Romanza Festivale is an annual celebration of the arts in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. 

For 17 days in May, audiences are treated to an amazing assortment of talent from music, dance, visual arts, theatre, spoken word and more!

In keeping with Romanza’s mission to bring a wide variety of outstanding entertainment to Northeast Florida, we are pleased to announce these four concerts as a prelude to Romanza Festivale.

These are ticketed concerts, tickets for each concert are $20.

Piano Compositions by Composers of African-American Descent

The observance of Black History Month will be enhanced by the concert and talk presented by Dr. Richard Alston, masterful pianist and recitalist on February 3, 2024 at 7:30pm. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music with both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Mr. Alston has performance credits ranging from recitals, gueast soloist with orchestras, live opera, many recordings and is a sought after teacher in the northeastern US., Mr. Alston will present a talk entitled: Classically Black: Piano Compositions by Composers of African-American Descen.

Guitar Wizardry

Dr. Jonathan Dotson, virtuoso classical guitarist, presents a program of Spanish guitar music spanning nearly five centuries, from early music of the 1500s to contemporary arrangements and original works. Dotson’s concerts have been described as a kaleidoscope of sounds, styles, and emotions that leave audiences stunned and grateful.

Dr. Dotson, a St. Augustine native, has performed hundreds of concerts as a classical guitarist across the globe. In 2014 he was invited to perform a concert at the Basilica of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, a performance that was followed by tours of China, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States.

Dotson has served on the faculty of several institutions including the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley, where he served as lecturer of classical guitar for over a decade. He currently teaches general music at Duval Charter School at Mandarin.

Dr. Dotson’s program will include works by Alonso Mudarra, J.S. Bach, Isaac Albeniz, Django Reinhardt, Journey, and much, much more.

Soirée á Paris

Yael ZaZa Flamenca, singer, songwriter and guitarist, invites you to immerse yourself in a concert featuring the songs and stories of Edith Piaf. Yael speaks and sings in eight languages: French, Italian, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Hebrew, Russian and Serbian. She is equally adept at singing in these languages as well as American rock and pop favorites and jazz standards. Her French heritage and facility in the language give her a special entree into the music and life of Edith Piaf. You don’t want to miss this unique cabaret experience.

On Point A Cappella Quartet

On Point is a captivating barbershop quartet that came together in Jacksonville under the guidance of Dr. Timothy Workman. Since 2016, they have taken their harmonious talents to stages across the United States, delighting audiences in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Orlando. Comprising talented members Daniel Pesante, Timothy Keatley, Alex Burney, and Taylor Despars, On Point has earned recognition for their exceptional vocal blend and versatile repertoire.
