The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum and the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of Florida will host a variety of Plein Air artists on the grounds of the museum on Tuesday, May 5, beginning at 11 am. The outdoor painters will revel in the day at the 200-year-old property as part of events to celebrate arts and culture in St. Augustine.
Plein Air art is a French expression which means painting “in the open air”. The artists follow a long tradition which began in the mid-19th century as they work outside in natural light. The historic scenery of the museum will support the creative work of the artists as they use the coquina house and detached kitchen as part of their paintings.
The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum will open from 10 am – 5 pm during Romanza Festivale. The artists will gather at 11 am to begin painting.
