Romanza and Compassionate St. Augustine are privileged to bring the extraordinary talent, Tim Marriott, and his production Shell Shock to Festivale 2020. Marriott, a UK citizen, is best known for seven series of the BBC TV’s leisure center sitcom, The Brittas Empire, appearing in every episode as deputy manager, Gavin. Other TV credits include Allo Allo, Doctors, The Bill, An Actor’s Life for Me and many others. His film credits include the forthcoming features: The Real Thing, Love Type D and Revelation.
Shell Shock is a stage adaptation written by Mr. Marriott of an authentic ex-soldier’s diary. The diary was originally written in book form by Neal Blower. The story concerns Tommy, who, following a long career in the military, attempts to fit into civilian life. His comments on the absurdities of everyday life are at first humorous but then spiral down into anxiety, stress and beyond. Ending on a positive note, the play is ultimately a redemptive drama offering hope to those touched by mental health issues.
This solo show starring Mr. Marriott, engages through comedy that descends into drama and then—out the other side.
This show was an Fringe Encore winner and the Sunday Mail Best Solo Show at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2018. The Fringe Review called it an “outstanding show”.
This production is made possible through the cooperative efforts of Romanza and Compassionate St. Augustine.
