Compassionate St. Augustine and Romanza Festivale are pleased to announce that Rabbi Merrill Shapiro will lead a “Walking Tour of Jewish St. Augustine” as part of the events centering on discrimination and the Holocaust scheduled during the second week of Festivale. The poster exhibit, Shoah: How Was It Humanly Possible? by Vad Yashem will open on Monday, May 11 and the dramatic production, Mengele, starring Tim Marriott is scheduled for two evenings – Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13. Both of these events will be held in the Flagler College Ringhaver Student Center. The Walking Tour will occur at mid-day on Wednesday, May 13; participants will gather in the parking lot of the Mission of Nombre de Dios.
The St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society will offer this 2 hour, 1.5 mile walking tour of Jewish St. Augustine, starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13th, in the shade of the trees at the southeastern corner of the parking lot at Mission of Nombre de Dios, 27 Ocean Avenue, at San Marco Avenue (State Route A1A). The tour will end at First Congregation Sons of Israel, 161 Cordova Street and involves a walk of 1.5 miles.
