Romanza Chamber Music Series: The North Florida Women’s Chorale

The North Florida Women’s Chorale under the direction of Kerry Fradley will present their spring concert  as part of the Romanza Chamber Music Series on Saturday, May 4 at noon.   The Chorale is accompanied by Kathleen Vande Berg. The Chamber Music Series: Smith/Diaz Play Piano Four Hands

Anna Smith and Rodolfo Diaz join forces to present two movements from Petite Suite composed by Claude Debussy between 1886 and 1889.  This suite for four hands was first performed in 1889 by the composer himself.  Two movements of the suite will be presented in this concert:  the first movement entitled “En Bateau” which depicts a sailing boat and the experience at sea and the fourth movement, “Ballet” which recalls dancing schools at work and includes a  beautiful waltz. Sometimes going to court should be fun!  So says Curtis Tucker, First Coast Opera Artistic Director and composer of The Trial of B. B. Paul and Caren Umbarger, St. Augustine’s husband and wife musical duo, perform throughout NE Florida and beyond with sparkling popular arrangements and delightful original music for violin and guitar.  For Romanza, they will present music from their most recent CD, The Songs of Marta – a collection of original classical folk music inspired by Caren’s internationally acclaimed second novel, “The Passion of Marta”, which tells the story of an exquisite lady’s violin made in Nuremberg in 1782.
