Ray McDonald, the Director of Music and Organist at Memorial Presbyterian Church, will invite attendees to join him in the choir loft for an examination of the inner workings of their amazing Aeolian-Skinner organ. This organ, the largest in St. Augustine, has been refurbished recently and pipes and digital stops have been added. People will be invited to join Mr. McDonald in the organ chamber and can view the pipes – large and small. He will explain the inner workings of the instrument as well as demonstrate the various sounds and play several pieces showing off the organ’s capabilities. He is a valued resource on organ building having spent an apprenticeship with the Flentrop Organ company in the Netherlands. Mr. McDonald is currently a consultant on the new Schoenstein organ at the Basilica of Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine in Kissimmee – a magnificent instrument with 32 foot facade pipes and comprised of over 5.000 pipes.
