The highly acclaimed series, “Music at Grace”, organized by Michael Sanflippo, Music Director at Grace United Methodist Church, will present a special Romanza Festivale concert by the Gainesville Brass Quintet at 3 pm.
The Gainesville Brass Quintet, the premier brass quintet in North Florida will present a program, The American Experience in Brass, which represents the music of America. Founded 34 years ago, the GBQ will perform music of New Orleans, Southern Gospel, Spanish Marches, Leonard Cohen, Appalachia, and Patriotic selections as well as music of the US Military.
The Gainesville Brass Quintet has an active performing schedule in Northeast Florida and is directed by Joseph Jamerson, trumpet. The ensemble also includes Cliff Newton, trumpet; Susan McGee, French horn; Charles Propper, trombone and Kurt Ziegler, tuba. They were heard recently in St. Augustine in several performances with the North Florida Women’s Chorale of “Appalachian Carols” arr. by Gwyneth Walker.
Mr. Jamerson is the founder and director of the Gainesville Brass Quintet. He has performed with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Orlando Opera Orchestra, the Florida West Coast Orchestra and as soloist with the Gainesville Orchestra and the Central Florida Symphony. He has been the Principal Trumpet in the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra for 34 seasons and also has an active solo career.
Beautiful Grace United Methodist Church is a wonderful concert venue and welcomes the community to this free concert. There will be an opportunity to make a contribution in support of the concert at the door.
